Mission
The primary mission of WATTS is to bring women together to grow in their awareness of the many self-care, self-improvement, self-empowerment and self-achievement views expressed today by various authors, experts, and notable figures. To share, discuss, and evaluate these views and incorporate them into their lives, to the extent so desired by each woman.
In order to respect the fact that WATTS members and guests have different religious affiliations and beliefs, selected nonfiction books and materials will not have a religious focus or be written or produced by religious leaders or authors.
Members and guests are discouraged from selling products and services during gatherings. The exception being invited guest speakers (who may be members or non-members). They may make their products or services available for purchase at the end of their presentations.
Members are encouraged to announce events or their individual endeavors that would be of interest to those present. Members are also encouraged to network, communicate and support each other individual efforts and businesses during and outside of the gatherings.

History
WATTS was founded in 2000 by Lynda Shorter and Donna Satchell. The first gathering was held at Donna's home on Friday, June 9th. That gathering focused on a discussion of concepts expressed by Iyanla Vanzant and Les Brown. A drawing was held for a variety of prizes with the grand prize being a ticket to attend "An Evening with Oprah" at the Atlanta Civic Center. The winner, Rose Wyatt, accompanied Donna and Lynda to see Oprah the following week.
That first gathering on Friday evening was followed by a series of others held on various days. After meeting for several months, a decision was made to get together on the second Sunday of the month. The group's official name of Women Aspiring Together To Succeed (WATTS) was unveiled at the first year anniversary celebration on June 10, 2001.
